Karachi and Barkhan shaken by moderate earthquakes on Eid-ul-Fitar
A 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Karachi and its surrounding areas on Monday afternoon, sending residents into a panic. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake struck at 4:11 pm, with the epicenter located 75 kilometers north of Karachi at a depth of 19 kilometers. No significant damage or injuries were reported, but the tremors caused alarm throughout the city.
Just hours after Karachi’s earthquake, another tremor affected Balochistan’s Barkhan district early on Tuesday morning. The quake, with a magnitude of 3.9, struck at a depth of 12 kilometers, with its epicenter 59 kilometers northwest of Barkhan. While no damage or injuries have been reported, the tremors raised concerns among residents.
The United States logical Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 4.6, with the epicenter positioned 65 kilometers east-southeast of Uthal in Balochistan, at a depth of 10 kilometers. This marks the latest in a series of tremors to hit the region in recent months.
