OSAKA — The Japanese city of Kashihara, known for its historic cityscape and its distinction as the country’s first full-fledged capital, has given itself a facelift using the cast of the popular fighting game franchise Street Fighter.

A bronze statue of the main character, Ryu, assumes a fighting pose near the Yamato-Yagi train station. With his well-defined muscles and fluttering bandanna faithfully recreated, the life-size Ryu looks to a visitor like he is about to unleash his signature Hadoken attack.
