SEOUL — Prospective candidates on Tuesday began positioning themselves to run in South Korea’s presidential election, set for June 3, as the country seeks to regroup from a monthslong political crisis.

Conservative Labor Minister Kim Moon-soo resigned while alluding to plans to throw his hat in the ring. Kim told reporters he feels compelled to help South Korea out of its crisis, saying he would announce official plans on Wednesday.
