WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump’s so-called reciprocal tariffs will result in cost increases that are difficult for Japanese beverage maker Suntory Holdings to pass on to consumers, Chairman Takeshi Niinami told Nikkei, calling the levies “the wrong move.”
Last week, Trump announced tariffs on imports from many U.S. trading partners, with a total of 24% to be added to imports from Japan starting Wednesday.
