TOKYO — Demand for mini-LED televisions is growing rapidly in China, aided by the country’s appliance replacement subsidies, and their popularity could pull down prices worldwide like when Chinese companies ramped up LCD TV production.
The number of mini-LED TVs shipped in China in the October-December quarter soared 130% from July-September to 2.02 million units, Counterpoint Research reports. The Chinese figure, far ahead of the 320,000 units shipped in North America and 30,000 in Japan, accounts for 65% of the world total.
