SEOUL — South Korea’s now-former labor minister on Wednesday announced plans to run in the June 3 presidential election, vowing to lead conservatives to victory over left-leaning frontrunner Lee Jae-myung.

Speaking at the National Assembly, Kim Moon-soo formally declared his candidacy, saying, “I, Kim Moon-soo, will surely rein in Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party that are leading the Republic of Korea to chaos and destruction with their lies and sweet talk.”
