NEW YORK — The yen rallied into the 141 range against the dollar here Wednesday, its strongest level since September, amid speculation that the Japanese currency’s persistent weakness would be on the agenda in tariff discussions between the U.S. and Japan.
Japan’s minister of state for economic and fiscal policy, Ryosei Akazawa, met with U.S. Treasury Secret Scott Bessent that afternoon.
