BENGALURU — The escalating trade war between Beijing and Washington could nudge Boeing to direct planes earmarked for China to India, where customers have bemoaned delayed deliveries amid rapid growth in the country’s aviation sector.
Beijing has instructed local carriers to halt deliveries of Boeing aircraft, as well as stop procuring parts and components from U.S. companies, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday. China Southern has announced it will suspend a planned sale of Boeing planes due to the expected fallout from the trade war, which has seen the U.S. impose a 145% tariff on Chinese imports and Beijing retaliate with 125% tariffs.
