TOKYO — Japanese optical equipment maker Konica Minolta is preparing to produce a protective film that can double the life of thin, bendable solar panels to roughly 20 years.
The film will cover the sunlight-facing surfaces of flexible perovskite solar cells, preventing moisture from seeping in. Konica Minolta will produce the film at an existing plant in Japan and begin shipping samples as soon as the fiscal year starting next April.
