TAIPEI — Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn is preparing its first passenger electric vehicle designed in-house for the North American market, the company announced Wednesday, with a planned launch this year through an unspecified automaker.
Foxconn designs and manufactures EVs for automakers on a contract basis. The company will bring its Model C sport utility vehicle, which it currently supplies to a major Taiwanese automaker, to North America with different specifications. No client automakers were named.
