NAGOYA, Japan — Toyota Motor said Wednesday it will invest an additional $88 million in a West Virginia factory, increasing investment and production in the U.S. as Washington hikes tariffs on imported vehicles and auto parts.

The Japanese automaker plans to add an assembly line for hybrid transaxles, a drivetrain component that will be used in Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Production is slated to begin in the second half of 2026.
