KYOTO — Japanese electronics group Rohm has developed a silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor device designed to be 50% more energy-efficient than competing parts, opening up the prospect of electric vehicles that charge faster and travel longer.

The new product combines four to six existing Rohm semiconductors into a single module. It can be used in onboard EV chargers and charging stations.
