TOKYO — Japanese companies are adjusting to the new global minimum tax requiring payment of at least a 15% rate on income from each country in which they operate, working to create systems for handling the greater administrative burden even if how much they pay changes little.

The global minimum tax rule was agreed to in 2021 by about 140 countries and regions including members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
