WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, and his deputy, Alex Wong, are leaving their posts, multiple U.S. media reported Thursday, exits that are likely to have implications for Asia policy because both are known as China hawks.

Veteran journalist Mark Halperin, who first reported the ouster, tweeted that special envoy to the Middle East and real estate investor Steve Witkoff is a possible replacement and has backing from many senior officials.
