Pakistan to issue notice to India on Indus Water Treaty suspension
LAHORE: Pakistan has decided to formally serve a diplomatic notice to India on the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
According to sources, emergency legal and constitutional consultations are underway on the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by India, while prelimin homework has also been completed in this regard.
Sources said that foreign, water resources and law ministries have done prelimin homework. It has been decided for a few days to serve diplomatic notice to India from regular diplomatic sources.
Sources said that the notice will seek concrete reasons for the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty from India.
Sources said that a strong protest is also being considered on the global forums, India’s water aggression will be effectively brought to the world.
According to the Indus Commission, Pakistan has legal edge over the Indus Waters Treaty, hope that India will have to revise its decision soon. All steps will be taken after the approval of the government and the cabinet.
