PESHAWAR: The district administration of Khyber has enforced a 12-day smart lockdown in the Pump House locality of Ghandi, located in Jamrud Tehsil, to control the spread of the Monkeypox.

A notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Khyber, Captain (R) Bilal Shahid Rao, stated that all entry and exit points of the area will remain sealed throughout the lockdown period.

The move comes after confirmed reports of mpox infections in the community. Authorities say the lockdown is a preventive measure to limit further transmission of the virus.

Only essential services—including grocery shops, pharmacies, general stores, tandoors, and emergency services will be permitted to operate during the restrictions.

Officials have warned of strict legal action against anyone found violating the lockdown measures. Residents are urged to adhere to health guidelines, limit unnecess movement, and cooperate with health teams conducting surveillance in the area. Strict monitoring will be maintained to ensure full compliance.
