SINGAPORE — Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party won a majority of parliament seats in Saturday’s general election, retaining control for the next five years of a country that it has governed since independence in 1965.
As of 12:50 a.m. local time Sunday, the PAP has secured 50 of the 97 parliament seats, including five seats where it ran unopposed, official results showed.
