NEW YORK — Mazda Motor will redirect capacity reserved for Canada-bound vehicles at its plant in Alabama to the U.S. market, effectively boosting production for the domestic market by 10%, Nikkei learned by Tuesday.

The Japanese automaker will halt production of its CX-50 SUV for the Canadian market at the plant from May 12 as it assesses the impact of U.S. President Donald Trump’s automobile tariffs and Canada’s retaliatory levies.
