Megan Thee Stallion broke a big rule at the 2025 Met Gala, but the internet is thanking her for her service.
On May 5, the three-time Grammy winner attended the event in a Michael Kors gown, styling her hair as a tribute to icon Josephine Baker.
After she headed inside, Megan broke a long-held rule by the Vogue-helmed event that “guests must abide by no-phone (and, therefore, no social media)” by filming herself tasting the food and posting it on Instagram.
“We are trying food at the Met,” Megan says at the start of a nearly three-minute video. Seated next to her are Angel Reese and Doechii, and they all have bite-sized pieces of cornbread with caviar.
“I like it,” Doechii says.
“I said it was good, she didn’t believe me,” Megan says, pointing at Reese, who agrees.
The trio all sample white truffle lobster rolls, hamachi, vegan lox, which Megan calls “funny-looking” but good, and truffle chopped cheese, of which Doechii says she’s not fan.
“You have to keep chewing,” Megan advises her.
But it’s the cornbread with caviar that the trio repeatedly goes back for.
“We went in three times,” Reese says.
The meal included papaya piri-piri salad, Creole-roasted chicken and barbecue collard greens, created by James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi, who said he was inspired by “Black dandyism and the Black experience in fashion,” sticking to the theme of the event.
The last minute of Megan’s behind-the-scenes look at the gala is packed with cameos from celebrity friends, including Tracee Ellis-Ross, who playfully tells Megan to “put her phone away” with a giggle.
Folks in the comments appreciated that the “Body” singer gave them access to the exclusive event.
“Thank you for this forbidden footage sis,” wrote one person.
“This is the content the girls wanted!” added another.
“Here before Anna make you delete this,” wrote one more, and Megan replied with laughing emojis.
Other high-wattage pals to make an appearance in Megan’s prohibited post include Cynthia Erivo, Tessa Thompson, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Michael Kors, Ciara and Serena Williams, who gasped when she realized there was a phone in a no-phone zone.
But Megan is certainly not the first to break this rule: Fellow attendee Teyana Taylor snuck in Chick-fil-A to the event in 2023, and documented the whole meal, too.
