Punjab announces closure of schools
LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has announced a two-day closure for all public and private educational institutions across the province.
According to the notification, schools will remain closed on Friday and Saturday. The teaching process will resume from Monday, confirmed the Secret of Education.
The decision applies to both government and private schools and is being implemented across Punjab. The reason for the extended weekend has not been specified in the announcement.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Mam Nawaz declared a state of emergency across the province and ordered the closure of all educational institutions following a series of Indian missile strikes that targeted civilian areas, prompting a swift milit response from Pakistan.
“All leaves of doctors and medical staff have been cancelled, and civil defence personnel have been recalled to duty,” Mam announced in an emergency briefing, urging hospitals and rescue services to remain on high alert.
The announcement came after Pakistan’s milit confirmed that Indian forces had launched airstrikes on five locations inside Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke.
