Waqar Mehdi declared winner of Senate by-election from Sindh
ISLAMBABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially issued a notification confirming the victory of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Waqar Mehdi for the general seat in the Senate by-election from Sindh.
Waqar Mehdi secured the seat following the by-election, further strengthening PPP’s representation in the upper house of Parliament.
Earlier, Waqar Mehdi of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had won the Senate seat from Sindh with a total of 111 votes.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Paksitan (MQM-P)‘s candidate Nighat Mirza received 36 votes.
A total of 149 votes were cast in the Syed Waqar Mehdi out of which two votes being declared invalid.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Syed Waqar Mehdi on being elected as a Senator.
