KUNMING, China — Passenger traffic on the high-speed rail line connecting China with Laos jumped during China’s weeklong holiday in early October as tourists took advantage of the cross-border service to head to the neighboring country.

During the National Day break that lasted seven days through Oct. 7, more than 6,400 trips were taken both ways across the border on the China-Laos Railway service, according to Chinese media. This represents a 160% increase from the year-earlier period.
