Pakistan Car sales drop by 5% in April: PAMA

• Pakistan’s car sales fell by 5% in April 2025, but rose by 1% compared to April 2024.
• The decline was mainly due to highway closures in Sindh, disrupting deliveries and slowing sales.
• New model launches and variant upgrades drove demand.

According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), car sales in Pakistan fell by 5% month-on-month in April 2025 but rose by a modest 1% compared to April 2024.

Automakers sold a total of 10,596 passenger vehicles in April. The monthly decline primarily resulted from highway closures in Sindh, which disrupted deliveries and slowed sales momentum.

Analysts say the year-on-year growth reflects a stable macroeconomic environment, falling interest rates, easing inflation, and rising consumer confidence, despite the short-term setback.

New model launches and variant upgrades also drove demand. During the first ten months of the current fiscal year (10MFY25), automakers sold 111,464 cars, marking a 40% surge compared to 79,596 units sold during the same period last year.

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) recorded the sharpest monthly drop among manufacturers, with sales falling 42% to 549 units in April. However, the company boosted its cumulative year-on-year sales by 130% to 8,576 units, driven by strong demand for its Haval lineup.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company’s sales dropped 12% month-on-month and 33% year-on-year to 4,003 units. In contrast, Honda Atlas Cars increased its sales by 20% month-on-month and 70% year-on-year, reaching 1,707 units. Indus Motor Company posted a 4% monthly gain and 58% annual growth, while Hyundai Nishat grew 9% year-on-year but saw a 5% decline compared to March.

The two- and three-wheeler segment posted strong results, climbing 26% year-on-year and 6% month-on-month to 135,721 units. This growth pushed 10-month sales to 1.2 million units, marking a 30% increase from the previous year.

Tractor sales dropped 48% year-on-year in April to 1,602 units due to weaker farm economics. Meanwhile, truck and bus sales surged 127% year-on-year and 13% month-on-month to 520 units, with 10-month sales increasing by 85% to 3,885 units.
