TOKYO — Some Japanese car parts makers are stepping up their investments in Mexico even as carmakers consider shifting production away from the country, a sign of the uneven impact of U.S. tariffs.
An extra $115 million is set to be invested in the state of Guanajuato, the heartland of Mexico’s auto industry, as Japanese components makers build new factories or expand existing plants.
