TOKYO — Hospitality group Hoshino Resorts will open a traditional Japanese-style inn with an outdoor hot spring in the U.S. as a beachhead market for eventual worldwide expansion, CEO Yoshiharu Hoshino said in a recent interview with Nikkei Asia.

The Nagano prefecture company plans to launch the inn, or ryokan, with a hot spring, or onsen, in the village of Sharon Springs in upstate New York by 2028.
