TAIPEI — MediaTek will start using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s latest 2-nanometer chipmaking technology as early as September, and all of the contract chipmaker’s cutting-edge tech that follows, in an effort to stay competitive in the AI era.
CEO Rick Tsai said Tuesday that the world’s leading mobile chip developer will start making test chips, or tape-outs, with TSMC’s 2-nm node in the second half of this year and that they will be used in “high volume” devices.
