LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced early summer vacations in schools across the province due to the intensifying heat and expected heatwave conditions.
According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, summer vacations will begin from May 28 in all schools throughout the province.
The decision aims to protect students from the adverse effects of the extreme weather.
The Minister of Education has reduced the time of schools to change, new times will be 7:30 am to 11:30 am.
It should be noted that the circular has also been issued by the Punjab government in this regard.
Earlier, The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning indicating that most plain areas of the country will remain under the influence of a severe heatwave for the next four days.
According to the PMD, from today until May 24, daytime temperatures in Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
Citizens are advised to take necess precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecess exposure to the sun during peak hours.
