SHANGHAI/HONG KONG — Shares of Contempor Amperex Technology, better known as CATL, rose in their trading debut on the Hong Kong Exchange on Tuesday, after the Chinese electric vehicle battery maker raised a total of 41 billion Hong Kong dollars ($5.3 billion), after the over-allotment option was fully exercised following the rally.
In a filing to the exchange late Tuesday, CATL said that the option to issue additional shares was exercised by coordinators and the underwriters following strong debut-day trading. An extra 20.3 million shares will be issued with trading expected to commence on Friday.
