TOKYO — Export prices of U.S.-bound Japanese vehicles dropped in April despite President Donald Trump’s tariffs, government figures released Wednesday show, signaling Japanese automakers are absorbing the price increases.
The unit price for automobile exports to the U.S. was approximately 4.07 million yen ($28,300), down 15% on the year, according to prelimin trade statistics for April released by the Japanese Finance Ministry.
