Good News! Govt announces early sal, pension disbursement for Eid-ul-Adha
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that salaries and pensions for all provincial government employees will be disbursed by May 30 ahead of the possible Eid-ul-Adha holidays.
The Finance Department has officially directed all provincial departments and institutions to make sure payments are completed by the end of the working month. This is because June 1 falls on a Sunday, which is a holiday, so the payments need to be made earlier.
This decision comes as the country waits for the official announcement of the Eid-ul-Adha date, which depends on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has scheduled a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on May 27 in Islamabad. The meeting will be led by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee’s chairman, and is expected to decide the start of Zul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.
Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also hold meetings in their respective provincial headquarters on the same day to help collect moon sighting reports.
A spokesperson from the Ministry said that if the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 6. But if the moon is not seen that day, then Eid will be on June 7.
At the same time, an astronomer predicted that the moon is more likely to be seen on May 28, which means Eid may most likely be celebrated on June 7 in most parts of the country.
