KARACHI: More than 100, 000 sacrificial animals has arrived in Asia’s largest Cattle Market at Northern Bypass Karachi and market has the capacity to accommodate 350,000 to 400,000 animals.
Today marks the 28th day since the arrival of sacrificial animals from various cities across the country. The market now hosts approximately 100,000 animals, including cows, bulls, goats, camels, and sheep.
The market has been bustling with buyers and sellers, especially during the weekend. In the general blocks of the market, prices are relatively more affordable.
For instance, a 1.5 maund (approximately 56.6 kg) animal is being offered at Rs160,000, while a 3.5 to 4 maund (approximately 131.8 to 151.4 kg) animal is priced between Rs225,000 and Rs250,000.
These prices are attracting large numbers of middle-class buyers seeking reasonably priced animals.
Administrator Shahab Ali stated that the market has the capacity to accommodate 350,000 to 400,000 animals.
Currently, there is space for an additional 150,000 to 200,000 animals. To ensure the well-being of the animals, the administration is providing 30 liters of water per animal daily at no additional cost. This initiative aims to maintain animal health and hygiene standards.
The market witnessed heightened activity over the weekend, with many buyers spending the entire day at the market. Food stalls and refreshment areas were set up to cater to the visitors.
This vibrant atmosphere indicates the growing enthusiasm among citizens to purchase sacrificial animals ahead of Eid ul Azha.
As Eid ul Azha approaches, the Northern Bypass Cattle Market continues to thrive, offering a wide range of animals at ving price points to cater to the diverse needs of the public.
