LAHORE:  The Director General (DG) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has stated that 80% of the damages caused by the recent windstorms and thunderstorms across the province were due to solar panels.

According to the DG PDMA, while rainfall had been forecast, its intensity was unexpectedly high, resulting in widespread disruption. As per official reports, 110 individuals were injured in various storm-related incidents across Punjab.

The DG emphasized the need for safer installation and structural reinforcement of solar panel systems, especially in residential and commercial buildings, to minimize such risks in future weather events.

He said that 80 % of the casualties in the incidents in Punjab were due to the collapse of solar panels. The people are requested to impose solar panels firmly.

He said that the temperature has risen to one to two degrees all over the world. In Pakistan, suddenly the temperature rises by four to five degrees, which causes the heatwave.

He said strict measures will have to be taken to reduce the temperature, to control the temperature, planting and urbanization.
