Ruet-e-Hilal committee to meet on Tuesday for Zilhaj moon sighting
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Islamabad on Tuesday for sighting Zilhaj moon.
Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad will lead the meeting to look for the moon, which will decide the date of Eid-ul-Adha.
Other zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also meet in their own areas to try and see the moon.
Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zilhaj, the same time as the Hajj pilgrimage. According to a forecast by Suparco, Muslims in Pakistan are likely to celebrate Eid on June 7.
Suparco said that the first day of Zilhaj, the last month of the Islamic calendar, is expected to be on May 29, but that depends on the official moon sighting.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Eid-ul-Adha is expected to be on June 6.
