KARACHI: Pakistan Eye Bank Soceity (PEBS) in collaboration with Rot Club of Heidelberg- Schloss Germany has launched School Eye Clinic Project with mission to screen 60,000 students.
An inauguration ceremony for the School Eye Clinic Project was held in North Karachi.
The German Consul General Dr. Ruediger Lotz visited the North Karachi Eye Bank Hospital and officially inaugurated the project. The Consul General of Sri Lanka, Jagath Abeywarna, also attended the event.
According to the organizers, since 2007, the School Eye Clinic Program has screened over 65,000 underprivileged students. The initiative is aimed at early detection of treatable eye conditions, helping prevent long-term visual impairments.
The project also includes awareness seminars and orientation sessions for teachers, ensuring sustainable impact in the long run.
The organizers described the collaboration with Rot Club of Heidelberg-Schloss, Germany, as a significant milestone in their mission.
The plans are in place to screen an additional 60,000 students in the coming year. The project also provides free cataract surgeries and comprehensive medical support to patients in remote areas of Pakistan.
