SYDNEY — A major U.S. policy aimed at shifting electric vehicle supply chains away from China has yet to benefit an Australia-South Korea venture producing key battery chemical lithium hydroxide, Pilbara Minerals’ chief told Nikkei Asia.

The inflation reduction act (IRA) offers consumers tax breaks of up to $7,000 on EVs that meet certain sourcing criteria, which boil down to avoiding Chinese inputs.
