California: On its 10th annivers, Google Photos has gifted users an impressive upgrade—a brand new, smart, and modern photo editor now available to everyone, not just Pixel phone users.
The standout feature of this update is that you no longer need to be an editing expert. Thanks to Google’s generative AI, users can simply type what they want—like “blue sky”—and watch the photo transform instantly, as if by magic.
Another feature, called Auto Frame, offers intelligent suggestions to improve photos. Whether there’s empty space in the image or a better angle is possible, the AI takes initiative—just like having a professional photo editor sitting beside you.
With the new AI Enhance option, lighting is improved, unwanted objects are removed, and images appear cleaner and more professional—all in seconds and with minimal effort.
Another helpful tool, called “Auto Frame,” suggests ways to improve a picture, such as fixing awkward spaces or adjusting the angle for a better view. There’s also a new “AI Enhance” option that quickly brightens photos, removes unwanted items, and generally makes images look cleaner and more polished with minimal effort.
Google has also made sharing photos easier. Users can now share entire albums instantly by simply scanning a QR code, a feature expected to be very useful at events like weddings.
These significant updates began rolling out to Android users in June of last year, with iOS users gaining access by the end of last year. Google Photos’ new approach aims to make photo editing a more accessible and enjoyable experience for everyone.
