HOUSTON, Texas — The U.S. is once again embracing the export of liquefied natural gas under President Donald Trump, granting four permits since Febru as it focuses on trade and energy security over the previous administration’s climate concerns.

The Energy Department last week released a report on the environmental and economic impact of LNG exports, saying they would “enhance national and energy security” for U.S. allies and trading partners. It also asserted these exports are more likely to replace other fossil fuels, such as carbon-intensive coal, than renewable energy.
