Washington D.C: A United States court has sentenced Pakistani businessman Muhammad Asif Hafeez to 16 years in prison for drug smuggling. Hafeez was convicted on two charges.
According to foreign media reports, Muhammad Asif Hafeez was initially arrested in London in August 2017 before being transferred to the US. The time he has already spent in custody will count towards his sentence, meaning his term is set to conclude in 2033.
The US court also ordered the confiscation of all assets linked to Hafeez’s drug smuggling activities.
