Japanese sake brewer Dassai homes in on US as ‘most important market’

YAMAGUCHI, Japan — Dassai, Japan’s top sake exporter, is focusing on expanding in the U.S. as its home market shrinks, with CEO Kazuhiro Sakurai highlighting an advantage in the company’s local production strategy.

“The U.S. tariff hikes could become a tailwind for us because of our local brewery,” Sakurai said.
