Presumably, cooler heads will be in play today, nearly 24 hours after some of this trial’s most fiery moments emerged out of the blue — about designer handbags.
Defense lawyer Teny Geragos insinuated in a line of questions Tuesday afternoon that the witness Jane didn’t come away from her relationship with Combs empty handed.
Geragos asked Jane if she had received a Chanel bag.
“No,” Jane said. “I only got trauma.”
When asked if she knew what Bottega bag was, Jane fired back at the daughter of famed L.A. lawyer Mark Geragos: “I’m sure you have one.”
Jane didn’t appreciate Geragos inquiring about the price tag of a Bottega and snapped back: “How much does my body cost?”
“In my view, ‘Jane’s’ cross-examination gave the jurors reason to distrust her testimony,” according to NBC News legal analyst Danny Cevallos. “First, she was at times snarky with the defense counsel during cross-examination. Bad idea. It never looks good. But worse, she didn’t own bad facts. She has an explanation for everything.”
