Tehran: Iran has issued a stark warning to Western nations, stating it will withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if what it calls “baseless accusations” persist.
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, submitted a letter to the UN Security Council, explicitly accusing the United Kingdom, France, and Germany of leveling unfounded allegations against Tehran.
Iravani asserted that if these three countries continue their efforts to reinstate sanctions on Iran, Tehran will withdraw from the NPT. The letter further indicated that Iran would respond appropriately to Western actions and initiate the process of withdrawing from the NPT under Article 10 of the treaty.
This development comes as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is set to convene a meeting on Monday, called at Iran’s request, following an attack on an Iranian nuclear facility.
