Good news for employees, Federal government announces a holiday
In a welcome move for employees, the federal government has announced a one-day holiday for all financial institutions across Pakistan. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has confirmed that Tuesday, July 1, 2025, will be observed as a bank holiday nationwide.
All commercial banks, development finance institutions, and microfinance banks will remain closed for public dealings on this date. However, employees of these institutions will still be required to report to work as per their routine office hours.
There will be no public banking transactions on the day, and regular banking operations will remain suspended. Citizens are advised to complete their financial activities ahead of time to avoid any inconvenience due to the closure.
The State Bank has issued this announcement well in advance to ensure that individuals and businesses can plan accordingly. This step is aimed at streamlining internal processes at financial institutions and is part of standard protocol at the beginning of the fiscal year.
Bank customers are requested to settle any urgent banking needs before the closure to avoid disruption.
