Javed Akhtar Urges Empathy Over ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ Ban

Renowned Indian screenwriter Javed Akhtar has voiced his support for the release of the film Sardaar Ji 3 in India, despite recent calls for its ban following the Pahalgam attack earlier this year.

Akhtar emphasized that banning the film would primarily harm Indian investors, not Pakistani stakeholders. “Ban karoge toh paisa Hindustani ka doobega, Pakistani ka nahi,” he remarked, urging the Censor Board and the government to show greater empathy and consider the larger economic impact.

According to reports, the filmmakers have clarified that the project was completed before the tragic Pahalgam incident. Akhtar questioned the rationale behind punishing the film when the financial burden ultimately falls on Indians themselves.

The controversy has sparked debate within the industry, with many calling for a more balanced and informed approach to such sensitive issues.
