TOKYO — Japan’s major restaurant chains are striking out abroad, as limited growth at home and an openness by foreign customers to accept price hikes present new opportunities.

Zensho Holdings, which operates a host of chains from sushi to hamburgers, plans to open 3,000 stores overseas over the three years from fiscal 2025, bringing its sites abroad to nearly three times that in Japan.
