SHANGHAI — Japanese rock guitarist Miyavi is moving his home base to China and boosting performances there in 2025, he told Nikkei, aspiring to become a “rock star” in his new adopted home.

Miyavi was one of around 30 international artists featured this year on “Call Me by Fire,” a Chinese reality show on state-backed streamer Mango TV. He now counts 1.14 million followers on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform similar to X, and his November show in Shanghai sold out 6,000 tickets in 10 minutes.
