Director Matt Reeves opened up about the filming and production process of “The Batman 2”, revealing that the movie will not hit screens until 2027 due to a two-year delay.
In a conversation with “Deadline” on the red carpet of the Golden Globes 2025, the filmmaker explained that while the cast will begin shooting this year, the team will need two more years to deliver the final product to theaters.
While speaking to the media portal at the event, Reeves didn’t reveal much about what fans could expect, but he said, “I can tell you that we’ll be shooting this year.” He added, “We’re doing something where the story continues, but I hope that people will be surprised by it.”
Warner Bros. Studios previously confirmed that they have rescheduled the release of the project from October 2, 2026, to October 1, 2027. They attributed the delay to the use of advanced technology and VFX.
Meanwhile, “The Batman”’s spinoff series, “The Penguin”, received nominations at the ceremony on Sunday, Janu 5. The HBO show won the Best Male Actor award, with Colin Farrell accepting the prize.
As for “The Batman”, the upcoming movie will continue the story from the 2022 release. Reeves revealed that he aspires to complete “The Batman” trilogy, but fans will have to wait even longer for that.
