BANGKOK — United Arab Emirates real estate giant the Damac group plans to invest $3 billion in data centers in Thailand and elsewhere in Southeast Asia as Middle Eastern companies make a push into the region, taking on the likes of Microsoft and Alibaba.

Danish Nayar, senior vice president of investments and acquisitions at Damac Capital, said Damac will play a part in the growing data center business in Southeast Asia, investing in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in the next three to five years.
