ISLAMABAD, Pakistan Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, expressed her distrust in the country’s justice system at Tuesday’s anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing.

The lawsuit, ruled over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, centers on charges that a vehicle was driven into Rangers members.

During the hearing, the judge informed Bushra that legal procedures had been followed, saying, “It has taken some time, but legal procedures have been followed.”

In response, Bushra Bibi said, “That is not a problem, but we have lost faith in the courts.”

Judge Sipra disagreed with her allegation: “It’s not like that everywhere. The judicial system, despite its imperfections, is functional.

“If it fails, society will cease to exist. You’ve also appeared before me in other hearings.”

Bushra elaborated on her fears, recounting a terrible incident from a previous trial. She described an event in which a judge’s blood pressure soared to 200, but he proceeded to rule against them.

“There is law in our country, but not justice. Imran Khan was imprisoned for protecting the Constitution. Everything we’ve been through has shattered our faith in the legal system,” she stated.

After hearing her arguments, the judge granted Bushra interim bail in the case filed at Ramna Police Station, giving the relief until Febru 7.

Earlier on Monday, a local court in Islamabad rejected three pre-arrest bail requests filed by Bushra Bibi.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard applications related to the November 26 protests.

Prosecutor Iqbal Kakhar and defense counsel Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry were in court during the proceedings.
