ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the Pakistani rupee weakened slightly against the US dollar in interbank trading, depreciating by 0.09 paisa to close at Rs278.85 compared to the previous day’s closing rate of Rs278.76.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the dollar’s buying and selling rates in the open market were recorded at Rs279.50 and Rs281, respectively.

The Euro also experienced a slight decrease, dropping by 0.11 paisa to close at Rs287.13, down from Rs287.24 as reported by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Conversely, the Japanese yen gained 0.01 paisa, ending the day at Rs1.78. Meanwhile, the British Pound saw a decline of 0.34 paisa, closing at Rs340.74 compared to the prior day’s rate of Rs341.08.

Among the Gulf currencies, the exchange rate for the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal increased marginally by 0.02 paisa and 0.06 paisa, settling at Rs75.91 and Rs74.32, respectively.
