SEOUL — Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD has begun its passenger auto offensive in South Korea, accepting orders for an electric SUV on Thursday as the company looks to challenge local automakers head-on with its low prices.
BYD begins deliveries of its Atto 3 small sport utility vehicle in Febru. This will be the company’s first passenger vehicle sold in South Korea. It plans to launch two additional EVs in the country this year, the Seal midsize sedan and the Sealion 7 midsize SUV. The launch of a hybrid is also being explored.
